Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Gunman.

Both young individuals who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies online, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the news agency.

Officers that searched the inn seized two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was detained, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one student was allowed to go home, said the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only during her upbringing... but at Brown she was a shining example in that specific location as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and fellow students and lament the passing of his promising future.”
