Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, making him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that spot besides him with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he continued.

Toronto won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
