Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
