New Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking demises of esteemed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report quoting a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
The source also refuted circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
