The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting in July

Gunners striker Viktor Gyokeres was left out in the new manager's maiden Swedish national team selection, while Reds striker Alexander Isak received a place

The Arsenal forward is scheduled for additional medical tests in the coming days following concerns he sustained a muscle problem during Arsenal's English top flight win against the Clarets on Saturday

Gyokeres sat out the Gunners' Champions League victory versus the Czech side earlier this week

Alexander Isak Returns

Isak, absent from action since late October owing to muscle issues, made the squad for the World Cup matches versus the Swiss team (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)

Additional England-based Inclusions

  • Tottenham playmaker the young talent, who is recovering from a head injury
  • Magpies wide player the Swedish international

Both athletes feature in the England-based players selected under former multiple English clubs coach Graham Potter

Potter's Hiring

The English manager took over the Swedish federation originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, under a month following leaving by the Hammers

Previous manager the Danish coach was sacked following Sweden's 1-0 loss to Kosovo on 13 October, a result that ended automatic qualification from qualifying group impossible

Current Position

Sweden are currently last place of Group B with just a single point from four matches

Should they don't manage to claim the runner-up spot, they may yet be involved in the secondary qualification because of their performance during the previous UEFA competition
